The Australian equivalent of superb or outstanding. Something or someone is said to be a "bobby dazzler" when a favorable impression has been made.

Barbie
In America we say barbeque, a word the Australians have shortened to "barbie."

Beaut
This is an easy one. Take the 'y' off beauty and you're there.

Bonzer
When something is great or really excellent, it's "bonzer!"

Burl
To give something a "burl," in Australia, is to look it over.

Cobber
Australians call a friend a "mate," but your best mate is your "cobber".

Corker
Australia has many words in which to express satisfaction or quality. "Corker" is yet another.

Dinky Di
When an Australian wants to indicate that something or someone is the genuine article, the real thing, the word, "dinky-di," does the trick just fine.

Good Oil
Instead of saying good idea , an Australian will say "good oil!". Nobody is exactly sure why.

Lucky Country
Australia is known as the "Lucky Country" by anyone lucky enough to live there.

Oy Mate
Why say hi or hey , when you can say "oy," like a true Australian?

Maybe because it's in the Southern Hemisphere and referred to as the land down under, Australia is also   affectionately known as "Oz".

Ozzie
What else would you call someone from Oz but an "Ozzie"?

Ripper
See "bonzer" or "corker". If it's really, really great, then it's "ripper".

Squiz
To look or take a peak. An Australian would translate let's have a look into give us a "squiz", mate.

Yabber
